‘Ray, how come you like music much older than you?’
That’s something people asked me all the time.
It’s true, I love the 50’s and the 60’s. The three first albums I bought in my youth were by Elvis, The Beatles, and Johnny Rivers. I believe the answer to the question above is quite simple: long after I’m gone (and long after you’re gone, dear reader) there will be people listening to the 50’s and 60’s. Why? Because it’s beautiful.
That doesn’t mean I don’t like contemporary music. Much the opposite. I do think contemporary music is fantastic. The last artists I downloaded to my playlist were Haim, ZAZ (French group) and Jonathan Len.
Let me share with you something I truly believe. No matter how sophisticated your taste for music is, no matter how long you’ve been growing your album collection or your digital playlist: there’s nothing like listening to music in group. Especially if it is a group that also enjoys great music. You can be sure you are in such group here on Around Sounds.
It will be a pleasure to play your favorite songs in my show and you may even listen to that long-forgotten song that will make memories pop up in your mind.
So, let’s dig some music up?
